This release from 2008 offers 60 minutes of dreamy electronic music on the CD.
The CD features a selection
of unreleased tracks (from 2008), live performances (from 2005) and a pair of remixes (from 2007) of pieces from earlier albums.
The electronics are airy and buoyant over a foundation of moody
atmospherics. Keyboard driven riffs flicker through a host of cyclic chords, establishing melodies that exhibit a smoldering strength laced with a dreamy appeal. A variety of moods are captured and
distributed throughout the pieces, blending growling resonance and piercing tones with pacific textures, all conspiring to superbly convey an uplifting attitude of inspiring wonder. |

While steeped in soothing sensibilities, these compositions possess a dramatic flair that serves to invigorate without straying into
hyperactive territory. A sense of wonder is imparted with each melody, as the tunes seep into the listeners’ flesh and then unfurl their commanding influences from an internal vantage.The DVD (which appears to be in
PAL format) offers 21 minutes of material. First, there’s a video of two of the tracks from the CD, live at Satzvey Castle in 2005; and then there’s an abstract video whose visuals are sourced from a live performance at

Während der Arbeit am dritten Art Of Infinity-Album hat Thorsten Sudler-Mainz die zweite Scheibe seines Ambient-Projekts Deep Imagination fertig
gestellt.Obwohl sie zwei brandneue Songs, vier Live-Tracks und zwei Remixe enthält, wirkt sie durchaus homogen. Natürlich sind da erneut ausladende, wabernde Synthie-Flächen, doch können die Stücke
weitaus mehr als nur Entspannung stimulieren. „Planetary System“ eröffnet mit pulsierenden Klängen, denen fast kontrapunktisch asiatisch tönende elektronische Trommelklänge entgegengehalten werden. In „Colourscape“
durchbricht ein elektrisch verstärktes Sax die marschierenden Sequenzer und kreiert floydige Atmos. Das „New Horizon“-Medley spielt ganz ungeniert mit dem berühmten „Shine On You Crazy Diamond“-Intro und man verlässt
den reinen Ambient zugunsten klassischer Elektronik in der Tradition von Tangerine Dream und Software. Mit dem dreiteiligen „Gemstones“ schließlich, gelingt das Kunststück, meditative Kraft mit immenser
elektronischer Intensität zu koppeln. Spannender kann Space-Ambient kaum sein. Die DVD enthält einen Burg Satzvey-Mitschnitt.

auf dem so betitelten Albumdebüt Formen annehmen, die sich dann auch in den Titeln dieses Werkes widerspiegeln. |

Musikalische Strukturen wie „Moonscape“, „Oceanscape“, „Sunscape“ oder „Mindscape“ lassen Bilder entstehen, die letztendlich durch
die Musik an sich schon fast greifbar werden. Mit der Unterstützung des Gitarristen Thorsten Rentsch und des Saxofonisten Stefan Höllering klopft Sudler-Mainz verhalten an die Pforte, die vor nunmehr 30 Jahren von Pink
Floyd und ihrem „Shine On You Crazy Diamond“ einen Spalt weit offen gelassen wurde.
„Scapes“ ist Ambient der alten (Tangerine Dream) und der neuen Schule (Art Of Infinity), wobei in der offensichtlichen Ruhe das

On the 16th of April 2005 the debut album Scapes of DEEP IMAGINATION was released. The same day Thorsten
Sudler-Mainz and the guest musicians Thorsten Rentsch and Stefan Höllering performed live at the SynGate festival Satzvey Castle 2005.The 2007 released DVD, which is also a bonus DVD of the album
Gemstones, contains the 13 minutes long concert film Live at Satzvey Castle 2005 with the tracks Colourscape and Mountainscape. The film shows the magic of the live performance of DEEP IMAGINATION within the
atmosphere of Satzvey Castle. Furthermore the DVD contains a video clip of the new track Planetary System with live created visuals of the graphic artist Ingo Langner, filmed directly from the screen
during a live concert of DEEP IMAGINATION. The outcome of this is a psychedelic trip.

Im Herbst 2007 erscheint bei SynGate eine DVD von Deep Imagination unter dem Titel „The Live & Versions“. Die DVD zeigt insgesamt
drei Stücke, davon zwei Titel, die beim Burg Satzvey-Festival am 16.04.2005 mitgeschnitten wurden sowie den neuen Track „Planetary System“, der mit Computeranimationen unterlegt wurde.Mit etwas über 21 Minuten
Spielzeit ist die DVD zwar recht kurz geraten, bei einem Preis von derzeit 7,90 Euro ist sie aber auch recht günstig. Darüber hinaus wird sie dem kommenden Album "Gemstones" als Bonus beigefügt. In die
Live-Aufnahmen wurden u. a. Impressionen von der Burg eingebunden, was recht ansprechend aussieht. Die Bildqualität (sie ist bei den Konzertaufnahmen durch die vorhandenen Lichtverhältnisse etwas körnig) und die
Kameraführung zeigen zwar, dass hier keine Filmprofis mit Hightech-Geräten am Werk waren, aber Schnitt und Kamerabewegungen (wenn auch manchmal etwas wackelig) zeigen ein gutes Bild, das die Stimmung gut einfängt. Für
alle die dabei gewesen sind, ist die DVD eine gelungene und schöne Erinnerung. Alle diejenigen, die es bisher noch nicht zur Burg Satzvey geschafft haben, können sich vom Flair dieses Festivals einen Eindruck
verschaffen. Der neue Track „Planetary System“ ist komplett mit psychedelischen Computeranimationen unterlegt. Das passt ganz hervorragend zur Musik von Deep Imagination. Thorsten Sudler-Mainz, Thorsten Rentsch und
Stefan Höllering bieten auf der DVD Ambient vom Feinsten. Der Sound der DVD ist ganz hervorragend. Aufgrund des günstigen Preises ist die DVD sehr empfehlenswert, zumal Konzertmitschnitte im Bereich Elektronikmusik (mal
abgesehen von der derzeitigen Flut an Tangerine Dream-Veröffentlichungen) noch etwas rar gesät sind. Wer noch bis zur Veröffentlichung des nächsten Deep Imagination-Albums "Gemstones" warten kann, der bekommt
